Students can register their interest in documenting what their own school districts report about financial education. Here is who can take part, what the work is, and exactly what is and is not available today.
Where things stand
You can register your interest on this page. Submitting the form stores the details you enter in our database; see Data and privacy. Delegate roles are confirmed by hand, and no position is guaranteed.
You can also start now: read the delegate handbook, find your state on the state research pages, and read the methodology.
Register your interest
Tell us where you are and how you would like to take part. We keep only what the form asks for, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. Questions first? Write to contact@centscampaign.org.
Already invited? Sign in to the researcher portal.
Who can take part
- Anyone 13 or older. No prior policy experience is needed.
- Anyone under 16 takes part with a parent or teacher sponsor who has agreed to the code of conduct. The sponsor can ask for the young person’s data to be deleted at any time.
- Teachers and parents can take part themselves.
- Younger readers can learn on this site without signing up.
What participants do
The work is to find out what one school district reports about financial education before ninth grade, and to document it accurately: read what the state’s law and standards say, request the district’s records, and record each reply with its source, keeping what a district stated separate from what it left unanswered. A district may not reply, and a missing reply is recorded as missing, never as evidence.
Available today and not yet available
- Available today
- The interest form, the delegate handbook, the published methodology, the public dashboard, and an invite-only pilot researcher portal for students who have been invited.
- Not available yet
- A tool to claim a district, a records-request kit, a log for follow-ups, and open sign-up to the researcher portal. Invites are issued by hand.
How onboarding works today
- You register your interest with the form above.
- CENTS reads each submission by hand. For anyone under 16, the only contact is through the sponsor’s email address, never directly.
- Delegate roles are confirmed by hand when there is work for them. No position and no reply time is promised, and no email is sent automatically.
There is no assignment system yet. When delegates are confirmed, a district has a single delegate, and a CENTS reviewer checks every record against its source before anything is published. No training or qualification is required today; the handbook and methodology are the preparation. See governance for how roles are earned.
Your information
- The form asks for a nickname, an email address, your state, an optional district, how you would like to take part, an optional note and two yes-or-no confirmations. Under 16, it also asks for a sponsor’s email address.
- CENTS does not collect full names, birth dates, ages, photos, home addresses or phone numbers.
- Adults with CENTS roles do not send private, one-on-one messages to anyone under 18.
- Never put a student’s name or records, or anyone’s personal information, in a note or message.
Read data and privacy for how long each kind of information is kept, and the youth safety policy.
